A full day of travel today from the bright lights of Las Vegas to the centre of Jazz and Blues - New Orleans. First up we decided to try the breakfast buffet at the hotel and decide to pass on the breakfast pizza and fried chicken!! After a quick shuttle ride to the airport we present ourselves at the check-in counter and there we stay for 20mins. It seems there is a problem with Joe’s round –the-world ticket(RTW) and no amount of coaxing by the check-in agent of her computer will allow her to check him in. Finally, after much frustration, a paper ticket is generated and we are set. A warning is given though that we may encounter this issue for each of Joe’s remaining RTW flights – just what we need 12 more hold-ups! Oh well.
The first flight of the day takes us to Dallas International airport, where an early arrival enables us to calmly take the monorail round 4 terminals to gate D29. We are hoping we fair better at Dallas this time than last, which saw our flight cancelled and us being put up for the night. We hold our breath and approach the gate and, YES, our flight is leaving and it is now time for boarding. This next flight is less than an hour flight time and we are on the ground in New Orleans.
N'awlins here we come....
A chat to our shuttle driver tells us that this unexpected cold front may see snow falling tomorrow. It hasn’t been this cold down here for 15 years!! Great – just our luck. On arrival at the hotel we are allocated a room on the nose-bleeding 48th floor! It’s now 10pm, very cold and after some room service dinner time to call it a night.
How can we serve you better?
