Yawn! Today it was up at 5am for our cross America flights to Boston. We had been told the previous day to allow at least two and a half to three hours at the airport because they process American customs and immigration before you leave Vancouver, rather than when you enter the US. It was a fairly smooth transition through this process and left us about an hour to amuse ourselves with in the departure area. We decided on ham and cheese omlette on english muffins for breakky and the standard Starbucks latte for breakky. Then we decided to try out the Priority Pass lounge, and stood at the door rining the bell for about 5 minutes. It was supposedly open from 5am but the desk inside was unmanned. So, we wandered around the airport looking for the other lounge and found it was on the other side of American Customs so no chance of getting to that one.
Our first flight for the day took us down to Dallas Fort Worth in Texas. This airport has mixed memories for us, as two years ago when we landed here we found our flight to New York had been cancelled and we were forced to stay overnight with no luggage. We waited in the American Airlines lounge with baited breath and at the prescribed time headed towards the gate. The lounges in the US do not announce the departing flights so you have to keep your eye on the clock and not miss your flight. Success this time with our flight and it was on-board for our flight to Boston. The distance and time chance saw us land in Boston about 9pm. When picking up our luggage at the baggage claim the top handle on my bag was broken, so it looks like I am going to have to find another bag while in Boston.
Boston, via Dallas Fort Worth?? What the?
We headed for the hotel in a taxi and found that our driver was a mad Boston Red Sox fan and was listening to tonights game on the radio. We arrived at the Boston Sheraton and once up in our room Joe was concerned that the outside of his bag felt wet. On inspection he found that his shower gel had leaked all throughout his wet pack, and onto some clothes in his bag. After this was cleaned up as best as possible, I reassessed our room and decided it was not what I had booked and pre-paid for. I rang the front desk and complained and got an immediate upgrade to the room we should have had. This was good as all the towels that we used to mop up the spilled gel would be left in the wrong room and we would have new towels in the new room.
That was it for today, and had me looking forward to a nice long nights sleep.
How can we serve you better?
