As I pack my bags and prepare to go back home, it is nice to reflect on how far I've come - the thousands of miles I've covered by train, the hundreds of miles I've skied, and the many people and adventures I've met on the way. And yet sitting here, overlooking English Bay in British Columbia, it suddenly strikes me how at home I feel here and have felt throughout the trip. I have never felt exasperated, intimidated, or alienated by the local culture. Although the landscapes, cityscapes and climate has offered dramatic contrasts to what I am familiar with back home, given the general faff and angst that is generally involved in travel, my 24-day marathon feels like a pleasant little jaunt. Ah yes, I think I have time for another cup of tea before I leave...
