Ancient Rome

From I'm back from Rome and it was amazing! in Rome, Italy on May 28 '08

Ashley-Rome'08 has visited no places in Rome

Our secnod day/ first full day in Rome was incredible! We went to the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill and then the Colosseum!!!! It was so cool. It's amazing how smart they were to build all these structures that have withstood thousands of years!

At Palatine Hill, we found a place called Domus Augustana...maybe where Augie got its name???

We also saw Circus Maximus, where the chariot races were. It just looks like an open field from far away, but when you get closer you can see the tracks from the chariots!

Another stop we made was Tradjan's Forum and Market. This was where the first shopping mall in the world was!

That night we visited the Spanish steps! They were full of people (locals and tourists) just hanging out and chatting. The Italians are so much more relaxed than Americans! They start work later in the day and take a two hour break in the afternoon and most places close earlier than in the US too! I think I like that better :)
