This reststop toilet that cost me a euro to use. The green thing popped out and sanitized the rotating toilet seat with a fine mist. Hmmm...the Germans really ARE engineers.

Ahhh. Frankfurt. Bigger city than Dusseldorf and my hostel is located north of the restaurant district and east of museum row, facing the river.  But not before I got lost for another 2 hours in the morning when I missed my exit. DOH. DEFinitely shoulda brought the GPS, but didn't have the time nor the extra money to upload the Europe map before I left. Next time.

I decided to stop and ease my frazzled nerves at one of these great rest stops I kept seeing with a Burger King.  Inside...familiar food AND language. AMERICANS in line waiting for a whopper like me!!  And servicemen to boot!  They were stationed at Nurnberg.  The older man was from Seattle, Washington and the other from samll-town Madison, Georgia.  They asked me to join them for lunch since I began to eat alone.  I noticed my Coke had no ice. "You have to ask for it over here."  Ohhh...nice tip.  The quiet older man had just arrived at the Frankfurt airport after going home to finalize a divorce. Ouch.  The younger one, Robert, said Nurnberg was the place to party.  I bet.  We chit-chatted a little longer about their duty and they left.  Downstairs they had public restrooms that cost me a euro to use, but you will see why after you see the pic!!!

So.  Back to being lost.  This time I wound up in a small village 20 minutes southwest of my destination.  I found, despite being lost, I was loving seeing small town Germany up-close by walking and not being stuck in my car.  I found the polizei after a kind local noticed I looked lost and lead me in the right direction.  The policewoman who helped me spoke nearly perfect english and was younger than I was.  Apparently she was a former exchange student In Phoenix, Arizona for her Senior year and just got back from a 6-week vacation in the southwestern United States visiting old friends and her "adopted" family. She said she couldn't believe I was travelling without a GPS in a foreign country. Do I know!  Her and her colleague told me to shoot for the river Main, pronounced "Mine". So 30 minutes later I found my cool-a$$ hostel which was hopping with students.
