steveO has visited 1 place in Boston

Ah, what a day..It started with me getting to O'hare Airport and seeing my flight was delayed a hour into Boston. Well once we get on the plane, we sat out on the runway because our planes computer wasn't working and needed to be rebooted. I finally made it into Boston about a hour and a half late. I found Jeff, Mom and Dad in the airport and they had a scotch waiting for me, which helped me get past my delayed flight. We ate dinner and were ready for our flight over to Iceland...but the volcano had other plans for us. We went to check in only to find out that the airport in Iceland had been shutdown due to the ash in the air. So we will be heading back to the airport tonight and get on a waiting list and cross our fingers hoping we make a flight into Iceland tonight, or we may be skipping Iceland all together so we can make sure we make it into Denmark in time for our cruise.

So we found a hotel not too far from the airport and checked in. We all needed another drink after the disapointing night, so we went to the only place open...a Mexican place with horrible karaoke. We didn't expect to be spending our first night on our trip in that way, but we made the most of it. Dad has been waking up early trying to get on Iceland time, so of course he was up and going by 5:30..so none of us slept too well last night and are all ready to sleep on the plane.

...we never thought a volcano would get in our way!

Today we walked around Boston seeing all the historic sites and plan on getting a real nice dinner shortly, all on the tab of our travel insurance..thank you very much! It has been a real long time since any of us have been here, so it was nice to see the city again...although I am sick of seeing Celtic fans being a Cavs fan.

From there we will be catching a cab back to the airport to see if luck is on our side today. The Iceland airport has reopened, so we are hopeful. We will have to change some plans in Iceland but we should still be able to see lot of the same sites we were originally planning on. We all know that when you travel the unexpected always happens, but we never thought a volcano would get in our way! Oh well...we are off to get some Chowda down by the harbor and hope to be blogging from Europe next time...
