Waiting to fly in

From Stephanie Bearjar - St. Petersburg in St. Petersburg, Russia on May 16 '10

IUP Cook Honors College has visited no places in St. Petersburg

So, I’m sitting in Heathrow waiting for my gate to be posted. It was so weird leaving everyone. The fact that we had to get so close, so fast only to leave each other within 4 months was kind of odd. Ellie is on my flight, but she didn’t go through security with me. She stayed back with Charlie for a little while longer as he is in an entirely different terminal. I’m excited about the flight. At least, I must be given that I didn’t really sleep last night. By didn’t really sleep, I mean, slept for an hour and 15 minutes. I was hoping to not sleep on the plan and not be hit as hard by jetlag, but now there’s no telling what will happen. Our flight looks pretty packed. Leaving St. Petersburg was easy enough, although they interlined my luggage without asking me. It did make hotel transportation easier though. I can’t believe Russia is over!! Neither could anyone else. This was a big life thing for most of us and now that it’s over we all have to graduate and figure out what to do with the rest of our lives. It’s a funny thing to be thinking about with the experience we just had and all, but it was about 60% of the conversations of last night.

I told my mom four months would fly by and didn’t they!!! Only 10 more hours (ish) until I see my family! And this summer is setting up to be amazing. I’m not in DC, but it’ll be great nonetheless. Yeah, I’m hoping they meet me just outside the terminal, if not, I’ll have to wander around with insane amounts of luggage to find them. I hope they’re happy too. That actually has been worrying me. I’m a little afraid to be honest. I think it’s actually going to be difficult to get used to things in the States again. I’m working on bringing my manners back after the number Russia did on them. I think I’ll just meet Ellie at our gate, there is no way she’s going to find me in this huge airport otherwise. I thought we might run into a bunch of the other students leaving around our time, but nope haven’t seen a one. Anyway, I think I’m going to head to the gate. I can’t get internet and I’ve said pretty much all I want to say. My next and last entry will be from home! J/L
