Saugus United Yrs 11/12
From Football and Rugby Tour 2010 in Los Angeles, United States on Jul 23 '10
And so the first fixture of our tour to LA, New Zealand and Fiji began, and what a chaotic start it was with both teams struggling to string more than two passes together, although from the early stages it seemed that Saugus preferred a longer-ball game which failed to flatter the ‘beautiful game.
The Beths centre half partnership of Sean O’Sullivan and Dean ‘awkward in Auckland’ Price dealt with the Saugus long ball game with almost incomparable ease, and even if there were some slip ups we had Will ‘will not be beaten by a Jack Austin deflection’ Hall to sweep up the pieces. After a few missed chances, the most notable on my behalf Beths got the break through with Jack ‘is always RED’ Austin chipping the not so agile Saugus keeper. This had the effect of settling us and we doubled our lead not so long after following an unbelievably precise half-volley with the ball coming from across my body, although its more likely it was actually a shank.
We were sure that if we did manage to play a game we knew we could that beating this team would be no problem but it did take us some time to begin to play such a game.
