Today we didn't wake up till 10am, and by the time we were up and dressed, we decided that our planned day trip to Disneyland was a no-goer. We decided to go to the downtown fashion district for some serious shopping. On the way down in the lift in the hotel, one of the other guests mentioned that the Los Angeles Marathon was on today - and guess where it was being held - downtown!! So there went that idea as most of the streets were closed!!!
We were starving and decided to park the car and get something to eat. We found a place called Coco's bakery cafe (my type of place). The menu items were sooo American. Eggs, breakfast potatos, turkey sausage, buttermilk buscuits, pancakes and maple syrup. Even though it was lunch time we dug into some breakky!!!yummo! After sorting out the bill (they added an extra meal and drink to our order), we rolled out to the car. We did decided however that we would have to come back to this place and try some "Chocolate pecan turtle pie" sometime.

On our trip home the previous night from Universal CityWalk we noticed the biggest discount shoe store we had ever seen. We decided that we would head back to there, and then after that go over to Venice beach. We were not sure where we saw this place - thought it was on Santa Monica Boulevard. So off we went on a trip on the boulevard - and ended up god knows where!! Started to get a bit seedy so we decided to turn around. The best idea was to go back to Universal and then get the NavMan to send us home again.

We eventually found that place and spent a good couple of hours walking up and down looking at shoes. Joe got his walking in for the day as he just wandered aimlessly up and down the ailes!!
After this we found that we were just 1 block about from Manns Chinese theatre and decided to go wander around there. When we got onto Hollywood boulevard we discovered that the permiere of Ice Age 2 was on that night and we had just missed all the stars and celebrities entering the theatre. They had snow and ice and ice scaters everywhere in front of the theatre, of course kept away from us mere public kept behind barriers. We stood around for a while thinking we might be able to star-spot when then came out of the premiere. It got way too cold so we wandered in to Hamburger Hamlet for some dinner. It was now about 9:45 so we decided to wander homewards via Coco's for some dessert.

Us three make a good team driving - Andrea drives, Joe reads the mapn and tells me where to turn, and Paula keeps lookout for crazy drivers and says - "keep right!!!". No more turns down the wrong side of the street today.
