The driving along the highways and into the relatively small towns of the Rocky Mountains had been ok but when we arrived in Vancouver the driving was stressful with so many cars, traffic lights, people and bad directions from Amanda. Jodie was very relieved to finally drop the rental car off.

After dropping of the car, we got straight on a hop-on hop-off bus which took us around Vancouver and to Granville Island. We spent the day shopping, eating and drinking and returned to the hotel very tired after the many early starts and long days of driving. We decided we needed to recharge our batteries by staying in and watching a movie.

Jodie headed back to use the hotel gym facilities as we are going on the cruise tomorrow which has free buffets for the next 7 days!

The next morning we awoke refreshed after about 11 hours of sleep (I think we both needed it), and caught the bus to the North Shore to go to the Capilano Suspension Bridge and then to Grouse Mountain.

The suspension bridge is one of Vancouver’s most famous attractions and includes tree top walks. Grouse Mountain is a ski resort however as it is coming into summer the snow is evaporating and there are hikes and summer activities to do. A sky-high tram takes you to the top of the mountain where we then went on a chair lift to the highest point in Vancouver, saw a fun lumberjack show and saw 2 orphaned grizzly bears held at the mountain.

We finished the day walking along two of the cities famous shopping/drinking/eating streets Granville Street and Robson Street (the street on which we are staying) and then Jodie headed back to use the hotel gym facilities as we are going on the cruise tomorrow which has free buffets for the next 7 days!

Vancouver… check!
